Constructed Wetlands... The EPA..... And the Builder... WE CAN HELP!!! With more & more construction and more & more destruction of our natural wildernesses and habitats, local, state and federal agencies are cracking down on rules and regulations. Wetlands are a delicate part of nature's recipe to filter out sediment and otherwise harmful pollutants from ponds, lakes, streams, soils and groundwaters. The EPA has been known to literally shut down a construction site when a natural wetlands is found. For builders, this poses an immediate problem. We have the answers. 1. Don't fight the EPA. You won't win! 2.Think positive. The Environmental Protection Agency has a job to do. It is their duty to preserve our natural wildernesses and many contractors simply ignore the agency's true duty. Thinking positive on what YOU can do to help preserve wetlands is the key to getting your project up and running again. 3. You have options. Consult with an EPA representative about the proposed area and discuss your options. Get them in writing so there is no confusion down the road. Usually, if you come upon a natural wetlands, you are forbidden to destroy or build over the site. It is not worth the risk of trying to work behind the agency's back. You won't win. And you will pay BIG FINES! One choice is to buy into a wetlands mitigation or wetland bank (which will prove to be very expensive). Consider approaching your EPA representative with a plan to construct a self-sufficient wetland. Here's where we come in...

4. PondScape can design a custom constructed wetland to mimic mother nature's intent. We can create a habitat for water fowl, amphibians, aquatic/bog plants and more while naturally filtering pollutants and sediment through the constructed wetlands. This is the way to get on the good side of the EPA! Instead of destroying nature, build it back up! Our designs are 99% maintenance free and will NEVER need dredged to remove sludge from a troublesome retention or detention pond. Dredging totally destroys established ecosystems and is very nasty work.
5. WHERE TO BEGIN: First speak with the EPA. They are the authority here. Listen to them and contact any resources they refer you to. Get their feedback and ask the EXACT MINIMUM DIMENSIONS of the area that needs to be constructed as a wetlands. Feel free to print this page and share it with the agency's representative for a better understanding. Your next step is to contact us and speak with someone regarding constructed wetlands. Employees of PondScape have completed several training courses throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada including in-depth design and construction techniques for creating new wetland habitats for water filtration, wildlife, and overall appearance. We can work with you to design an easy to understand plan to present back to your EPA representative on how we will construct your wetland. We will include a thorough explanation on each and every part of the system, its function and maintenance, if any. There is a small fee of $300 for the design proposal but it is 100% money-back if the EPA declines the design*. After approval from your agency, a detailed quote will be given at no additional charge for PondScape to complete the constructed wetlands project. Please email with any questions support@pondscapeonline.com or call toll free 1-866-584-5405 for more information. This is a direct emailbox and is intended only to receive emails from people wishing to have a wetlands constructed at their site. Please do not send in questions on "how-to". It is all contained in the design proposal.
PondScape travels the entire U.S. for large-scale installations. Our typical radius for local work is a triangle from Cleveland OH-Pittsburgh PA-Wheeling WV. If you are building outside this area and your job does not qualify for our crews to travel, we can design a system and supply all materials shipped directly to your job site at very low costs for a general contractor to install. We can offer phone and email support to guide your contractor through a step-by-step installation. *In the event of an agency of authority not approving the design due to its shape, size, functionality, etc., we will work to create a design to that agency's specifications. If we fail to meet an acceptable design after receiving detailed specifications on changes to make to the original design from that agency, we will credit back your entire $300. If any agency disapproves for any reason other than those listed, the fee is not refundable but the plans are yours to keep and use at your own discression. PondScape has no affiliation with the Environmental Protection Agency. Any agent of authority may contact us at the email address above in regards to legalities or issues regarding this site and the information contained here in. We welcome feedback from the EPA and other regulated agencies to help us improve the world we live in. |
